Terms and Conditions for Self-Storage Unit Rental

These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement (“Agreement”) between NVR Properties, hereinafter referred to as “The Company,” and the Renter, referred to as “You” or “The Renter.” By renting a self-storage unit through our website or premises, you acknowledge and agree to comply with these terms. Acceptance of these Terms is assumed when You proceed to rent a unit. A separate, signed lease agreement is also required.


1. Agreement Overview

This Agreement governs the rental of a self-storage unit by You from The Company. By using our services or signing the lease agreement, You accept and agree to abide by the terms outlined here and in the lease agreement.


2. Use of Storage Unit

2.1 Permitted Use

  • The storage unit may only be used for storing personal or business property.
  • The unit may not be used as living quarters, for business operations, or for any unlawful purposes.

2.2 Prohibited Items

  • The following items may not be stored: hazardous substances, flammable materials, explosives, perishable items, or any goods prohibited by South African law.

2.3 Condition of Stored Items

  • The Company is not responsible for damage or loss to stored items caused by environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, or pests.

3. Rental Payment

3.1 Payment Terms

  • Rent must be paid in advance on the first day of each month or an alternative agreed date. Payments are to be made via EFT to The Company’s designated account.

3.2 Late Fees

  • Late payments will attract a penalty fee of [specified amount or percentage]. Late fees will apply if payment is not received within [specified grace period].

3.3 Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit of [amount] may be required at the start of this Agreement.

4. Access to the Unit

4.1 Access Hours

  • Units can be accessed during The Company’s designated hours.

4.2 Security

  • The Company provides 24-hour armed response, electric fencing, and CCTV surveillance. However, securing the unit with a personal lock remains Your responsibility.

5. Insurance and Liability

5.1 Insurance

  • You are responsible for insuring all items stored in your unit. The Company does not provide insurance and is not liable for any loss or damage to stored goods.

5.2 Liability

  • The Company will not be held liable for any injury or damage caused on the premises or by the actions of other renters.

6. Termination of Agreement

6.1 Notice of Termination

  • Either party may terminate this Agreement with 30 days’ written notice. Pre-paid rent beyond the termination date will be refunded after deducting outstanding charges.

6.2 Vacating the Unit

  • You must vacate the unit and remove all items by the termination date. The unit must be returned in its original condition.

6.3 Abandoned Items

  • Items left in the unit after termination will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of at The Company’s discretion.

7. Changes to Terms

  • The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms with 30 days’ written notice. Your continued use of the unit constitutes acceptance of any updates.

8. Indemnity

  • You indemnify and hold The Company harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from Your use of the storage unit or any breach of this Agreement.

9. Governing Law

  • This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes shall be resolved under the jurisdiction of South African courts.

10. Entire Agreement

  • This Agreement, along with the lease agreement, constitutes the entire understanding between The Company and You, superseding any prior agreements or discussions.
